Round table on the theme: “Ukrainian Piedmont in the Carpathians”

“Our land becomes free, independent, and proclaims to the whole world that it was, is, and wants to be UKRAINIAN,” – these are the words spoken from the rostrum of the Diet on March 15, 1939. Carpathian Ukraine has declared to the whole world the intentions of Ukrainians to live in an independent cathedral state. The small Transcarpathian region was destined to play a significant role in the history of Ukrainian state-making.

March 15, 2019 80 years have passed since the declaration of independence of the Carpathian Ukraine. It is on this day that students of Ivano-Frankivsk College of Prykarpattya National University. Vasily Stefanyk gathered at a round table to remember the events of those days. In the event organized by the teachers of history Nadurak NM and Maximets BV, students of the 1st year of the College of specialties “Preschool Education”, “Elementary Education”, “Design”, “Applied Mathematics”, as well as students of the 4th year of the University of the specialty “Political Science” participated.

The participants of the roundtable discussed the issue of declaring independence of the Carpathian Ukraine, the struggle of the Carpathian Sich, the role of Augustine Voloshin in the history of Ukraine. Students prepared informative presentations and presentations, which covered many interesting materials. No one was left indifferent to the roundtable discussion, the viewing of the documentary Silver Land. Chronicle of Carpathian Ukraine 1918-1939. ”, Poems and songs performed by students.

This event reminded everyone present about one of the heroic pages of Ukraine, about a small part of the Ukrainian land, which showed the unwavering will of our people. This event remains for us, especially today, an example of the unbreakable Ukrainian spirit.
