“Carpathian Ukraine and OUN: Political Science Section”

March 14, 2019 at the Ivano-Frankivsk College of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University under the guidance of teacher, Candidate of Political Sciences Bohdan Maksymets, a roundtable on “Carpathian Ukraine and the OUN: Political Science Section” was held on the occasion of the 80th anniversary Ukraine and the 90th Anniversary of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists. The students of the fourth year of the College of the specialties “Elementary Education” and “Applied Mathematics” took part in it. The preparation and holding of the round table included students-students of the fourth year of the specialty “Political science” of the Faculty of History, Political Science and International Relations of the Vasyl Stefanyk Precarpathian National University Vitaliy Yakovyshyn, Tetyana Shevchuk, Yaryna Rakushlyovskaya, Yulia Rakushlyovskaya. Their mentors, political science candidates Oksana Lipchuk and Ivanna Lomak also visited the event.

Participants of the roundtable discussed a number of questions concerning the characteristics of the characteristics of the Carpathian Ukraine as a state, political regime, political parties, party system, internal and foreign policy of the Carpatho-Ukrainian Republic, as well as typologization of nationalism, defining the political role of the OUN in state-building processes on the Silver Earth.

According to the results of the round table, it was concluded that without the Carpathian Ukraine it would not be possible for Transcarpathia to join Ukraine, since in 1939 the question of the national character of this piece of land near the Carpathians was finally resolved. And after 80 years, the turbulent events of the declaration of independence of the Carpathian region are worthy of wonder and admiration. Now, as never before, the first commandment of the Ukrainian nationalist must be remembered: “You will gain the Ukrainian state or die in the struggle for it.” It was governed by many members of the OUN – an organization that emerged 90 years ago – who laid their heads for the Carpatho-Ukrainian Republic.
